Winning in your relationship with food and your body.

I am a believer first in Jesus.  I understand that God has bless me with this one body to manage.  I have not always had this perspective.  For some of us, we think that we can exercise ourselves or that our youth will keep us healthy, we continue that path, but sooner or later (much sooner for some) we learn that we are sick in our body.  I this, because that was me.

Before I learn the quote, "Let food be thy medicine, let medicine be thy food" - Hippocrates, I believed that I could eat any and simply work it off and I would be fine.  I also thought my body was designed to go down, deteriorate when I reached a certain age, and that my family makeup would possibly cause my illnesses...I had no control over the family history.  I now know better.  Our body is designed to heal itself, and it will with proper nutrition.

As a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor, my desire is to coach individuals in the application of full body wellness.  The goal is to help my clients understand that:

I am an example of someone who has been healed by food.  As an active 39 year old, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure.  I was active, working out 4-5 days a week, I was not over weight, and I thought I was eating a fairly healthy diet.  I was put on a low grade medication to control my blood pressure.  I was told, I would likely be on this medication or another for the rest of my life.  It was eight years later when I heard clearly from the Lord that it was what I was putting in my body; it was at that moment, I changed my diet.  Less than two years later, I was no longer on blood pressure medicine, I felt much better in my body, and I was much better in my personality.  I believe, because of my obedience to the Spirit of God, doing what I did not know, stepping out of my comfort zone, and being discipline in my eating has healed my body.

For many of us, we are able to eat and drink what ever we desire, especially when we are in our youth.  We are usually able to carry those habits into our early adult life.  Then life happens and we find ourselves on most days not feeling our best.  We are able to function, but not at a high level...not like we use to function.  For some of us, we know we need to drink more water, for others we need to stop eating the fast foods,  some of us need to eat more, and there a segment of us that can relate to each category.

Testimony                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            For me, it was an answer to prayer.  When I was in my youth, I was eating any and everything I could get my hands on.  I love food, I enjoy cooking it, and my mindset was, I workout; therefore, I can eat whatever I want.  This mindset worked for me, until I was diagnosed with high blood pressure.  I literally could not believe that I had high blood pressure.  I was working out five sometimes 6 times a week, I was not over weight, and I thought I had a pretty good relations with food...a fairly health lifestyle.
